Here is the latest news as of Thursday morning as PG&E continues to work to make repairs on the Bear River Canal in Placer County.

The company has said it expects to complete a bypass by the first week of June and full repairs by mid-June. The company also is coordinating efforts with the Placer County Water Agency (PCWA) and the Nevada Irrigation District (NID) to provide water to residents and businesses.

Here are the most recent PG&E actions:

  • As of 7 a.m. Thursday, PG&E crews have completed pouring concrete needed to stabilize the mountain below the canal. This work keeps the company on track to have a temporary bypass operating by early June, with full restoration of the canal by mid-June.
  • PG&E has 12 trucks running continuously in daylight hours (carrying 4,000 gallons per truck) in order to deliver water to the PCWA at Lake Arthur, Lake McNary, the Boardman Canal and other locations as directed by PCWA.
  • PG&E continues to deliver about 90 loads of water per day, or about 360,000 gallons. To date, the company has delivered more than 1.6 million gallons.
